Well, this is a pleasant surprise. It seems that HP and Verizon Wireless have teamed up to spruce up HP’s Pavilion dm1 netbook. What the two have cooked up is to provide the dm1 with an additional SIM card that helps it hook up with Verizon’s 3G network. Unfortunately, it’s got problems – the data pricing options are pretty steep and you’ll probably have difficulty in transferring that SIM to another laptop. As for the laptop, it’s pretty good. Specs include a 1.3GHz AMD Athlon II Neo K325 processor, a Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) installation, football uniforms, 2GB of DDR3 memory, ATI’s Mobility Radeon HD 4225 GPU, and an inbuilt webcam and Altec Lansing speakers. However, this is going to cost you. Verizon is selling it for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement on a Mobile Broadband plan. The normal version will cost you $499. It’s a bit of a hard sell on the overall.
